The Daily Iowan
Position: Assistant Arts Editor
Responsibilities:
  • Managed a team of reporters alongside two other editors. We produced, designed and implemented content for each week, including the 80 Hours weekend edition of The Daily Iowan, in addition to editing stories.

KRUI 89.7FM (2006-2010)
Position: On-air DJ and Production
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare content for two hour specialty radio program once a week.
  • Record and produce spots and promotions to be played on-air. 
  • Follow FCC guidelines and monitor all music.
  • Also help out with 80 Hours on Air, an event-based radio program, and conduct live interviews.

The Daily Iowan (May 2009 to December 2010)
Position: Arts & Culture Reporter 
Responsibilities:
  • Wrote three to five articles a week.
  • Gained video editing experience working with Final Cut Pro.
  • Learned valuable time management skills and followed AP Style.

Iowa Journalist (Fall 2010)
Position: Writer, photographer and website developer.
Responsibilities:
  • Wrote for the UI alumni magazine and helped launch its website.

Cityview (November to December 2007)
Position: Freelance writer
Responsibilities:
  • Wrote an investigative piece on school board / land controversy requiring extensive research and interviews with high-level officials.
  • Mary Brubaker - long-time reporter and television host - wrote a letter praising the article as "a sign there is hope for journalism from the alternative press."

Note: I have held a variety of part-time jobs which involved balancing professional work, life and school (including customer service experience with Blockbuster Video, cashier at Bruegger's, food service with Burge Marketplace, marketing and writing for uivote.net, and freelance work with Off Deadline Magazine). I also learned various marketing strategies at The University of Iowa, and would be comfortable with marketing and PR jobs.

Technical skills / experience: Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, XHTML, CSS, Social networking use and marketing (Twitter, Blogger, Wordpress, Facebook, MySpace, etc.), and some website design.
